"Keep in mind- I am not an expert on any of the three... I just have some topical knowledge of the general concepts each focuses on. When I often give my recommendation, all three tend to get offended. I have no affiliation with any of the three and my analysis is based on my own experiences.
Evolution Running- Pros- Simple to learn, effective. Cons- May not be detailed enough for some,
I disagree with Ken's idea of ideal foot strike.
POSE- Pros- Probably the most effective of the three, VERY good for serious runners. Cons- Complex, difficult to learn concepts. Usually takes a long time to master. Shady marketing, makes claims based on science, but no research supports claim that it is better than Chi or ER. Some POSE proponents give off a multi-level marketing vibe.
Chi- Pros- Fairly easy to learn, good for long-distance runners (ultras). Cons- Intertwining with Tai Chi is off-putting to some as it makes some concepts unnecessarily difficult to learn.
It really depends on your goals and learning style. ER is the most approachable, I think it would fit most recreational runners that don't think about running 24/7 (think type B personality). POSE is great if you love very detailed analysis; the precise nature will help you shave a few seconds off your 5k PR (think type A personality). Chi is great if you're a laid-back easy going runner, or you are into Eastern thought. In my opinion, all three are simply tools that can be used to learn excellent form. I suggest people try all three, you'll quickly find your favorite. Which one is best is an individual question. I would also recommend everyone at least learn a little about all three and do some experimenting... it will make you a better runner"
